We were so excited to try the famous hot fudge sundae at Ghirardelli Square, but honestly, it did not live up to the massive hype. My local ice cream shop does it way better! Here is our honest experience: The Cons (Why it wasn't worth the 30-minute wait): The Assembly Mistake: They poured the hot fudge at the bottom of the cup, layered the ice cream over it, and topped it with whipped cream, dry fruits, and a chocolate square. Because the fudge was under the cold ice cream, it wasn’t even hot anymore! It got stuck to the bottom of the cup, making it super hard to scoop with the ice cream. Meanwhile, the ice cream itself was melting fast. 🫠🥄 The Chocolate: The chocolate piece on top was rock hard, straight out of the fridge. The Service: The queue was moving incredibly slowly. Even though three staff members were available, only one person was actually serving customers while the other two slowly arranged things instead of clearing the line. ⏳ The Pros: The building and outside area are beautiful and iconic. 📸 The Verdict: I’d highly recommend just taking photos outside the historic factory and skipping the "to-go" dessert line. Don't waste your time waiting in line here!

The ice cream was creamy and the chocolate of course was amazing. The mini is the perfect amount for 1 person but I didn’t see an option of the mini for the specialty sundaes. Not a show stopper because you won’t go wrong with the classic. I added a chocolate covered strawberry, you know, to be healthy 😏 Definitely recommend not just for the ice cream but for the everything around it in Ghirardelli Square.

I ordered the Mini Hot Fudge Sundae at Ghirardelli Chocolate To Go, and honestly it was amazing. The ice cream was rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced with the warm hot fudge chocolate on top. Every bite tasted fresh, sweet, and full of flavor. Even though it’s called a “mini,” the dessert was very satisfying and absolutely worth trying. The chocolate quality was excellent, just like you would expect from Ghirardelli. If you’re visiting San Francisco and love desserts or chocolate, this place is definitely a must-try. Easy 5 out of 5 stars from me.

An upper level of desserts. The chocolate is delicious and the way they mix it with different toppings and flavours makes the difference. A must in SF. A bit pricey, but it worths it.

Iconic coffee shop in the heart of San Francisco. A little pricey, but worth it. We had their classic hot chocolate and salted caramel hot chocolate. Both were wonderful! Highly recommended.
